Task suggestions for referred nursing assistants:

• Prepare meals/snack, assist with feeding, and feeding
• Assist to the bathroom, bedside commode or use of bedpan or urinal
• Assist with incontinence care, empty colostomy or catheter bag
• All elements of a bed bath, sponge bath and tub/shower
• Assist with dressing
• Assist with oral care, shaving, make up application and hair combing
• Application of non-medicated lotions or ointments
• Assist with ambulation, transfers to or from bed, chair or wheelchair, and repositioning in the bed
• Assist with range of motion exercises
• Accompany to appointments, shopping or errands
• Light housekeeping, laundry and linens for the Client
• Companionship

Medication should be set up/dispensed from original container by an RN or a family member. Caregivers can assist with the emptying of colostomy and/or catheter bags.
